RIP Whitney Houston

Updated on February 26, 2016

Whitney Houston dies on the eve of this year’s Grammy Awards at the age of 48. Whitney who has been known for her high pitch songs going as far back as the 80’s, had struggled with drug and alcohol use and had spiraled down from the top in the late 90’s.

Whitney was the daughter of Cissy Houston, cousin of Dionne Warwick and dear friend of Aretha Franklin, she was born on August 6, 1963, in Newark, NJ, and 19 years later she was spotted by Clive Davis; which later determined her road to success. Clive then mentored and steered her career for more than 25 years.

Houston was a true performer not only of music but also acting, and she will greatly be missed. As a performer the fame, spotlight, drugs and scandals are a given, but she must be remembered solely for the contributions made to the music industry, for during her prime she was one of the best vocals to ever grace the music scene and was regarded as being a role model to singer Mariah Carey among others.

Whitney was highly successful with her songs, "Saving All My Love for You," "How Will I Know," "Greatest Love of All" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go." All Billboard #1 hits and her "Bodyguard," Soundtrack sold over 10 million albums. Whitney Houston was absolutely idolized and for just cause, she was an extraordinary talent with an exceptional voice and a graceful beauty.

Unfortunately her career was stalled as she entered rehab and it is said that her mom once appeared at her door step with a court injunction saying “we either do it my way or we are not going to do this at all." It was then the final decision was made for Whitney to retire and once again seek treatment. In May of 2011 she got the help she needed said her representative at the time.

Whitney leaves behind a daughter Bobbi Brown and daughter of “New Edition” star Bobby Brown, who has had numerous brushes with the law. Their marriage was highly publicized as it was then one started to notice a change in Whitney and then later we found out she was a victim of domestic abuse. She and Bobby Brown divorced in 2007 and before appeared together in the reality show “Being Bobby Brown.

There has been word that Whitney was finally back on track and looking forward to making a comeback. She had just finished a film that will be released this Fall 2012 and fans will get to see a true performer in action. The cause of Whitney's death has not been determined, but apparently she was found submerged in the bath tub of her hotel room. Further details or links shall be added later but for now lets leave things like this.

Whitney was a legend and great American Artist and should only be remembered for that as she truly deserves it...

RIP Whitney, you will surely be missed.

Poem Tribute to Whitney by Godchild

RIP Whitney God Has You Now

Whitney's in a better place right now
Than she’s ever been before;
All pain is gone; she’s now at rest;
Nothing troubles her anymore.

It’s we who feel the burden of
Our sadness and our grief;.
We have to cry, to mourn our loss,
Before we get relief.

We know we’ll reconnect with her
At the end of each life’s road;
We’ll see her cherished face again
When we release our earthly load

Saving all My Love for You
